DESCRIPTION:En esta sesión\, prepararemos el temario específico de HL Economics\, con énfasis en las secciones más difíciles de Microeconomics (Theory of the Firm) y Macroeconomics (Development Economics). Theory of the firm incluye los diagramas más complicados de la syllabus de Economics IB y siempre está presente en exámenes de Paper 1 y en Paper 3\, mientras que Development Economics plantea dificultades especialmente porque se combinan muchas de las secciones anteriores de Microeconomics y Macroeconomics en un contexto diferente. \nDurante esta clase trabajaremos los siguientes temas: \nTheory of the firm diagram & calculations \n\nMR\, AR\, MC and AC curves.\nConditions and efficiencies.\nShutdown points.\nRevenue\, cost and profit calculations.\n\nPerfect competition & Monopoly \n\nCharacteristics of perfect competition.\nLong-run and short-run diagrams.\nCharacteristics of monopoly.\nBarriers to entry.\nNatural monopolies.\nCosts and benefits of perfect competition and monopoly.\n\nOligopoly \n\nCharacteristics of oligopoly.\nConcentration ratios.\nReasons for price stability.\nCollusion.\nGame theory and relevant diagrams.\nPrice and non-price competition.\n\nGovernment intervention \n\nMarket power and market failure.\nLegislation and regulation.\nGovernment ownership.\nFines.\n\nMeasuring development \n\nIndicators of development\nComposite indicators\nLimitations of indicators of economic development\n\nBarriers to growth and development \n\nPoverty cycle and relevant diagrams\nPrimary product dependence and relevant diagrams\nEconomic barriers\nPolitical and social barriers\n\nGrowth and development strategies \n\nTrade strategies\nMarket-based strategies\nInterventionist strategies\nForeign aid\nForeign direct investment\nEvaluation of growth and development strategies\n\nPara ello\, emplearemos preguntas oficiales de examen (Paper 1 & Paper 3)\, a través de las cuales practicaremos todos los tipos de habilidades\, haciendo hincapié en las más difíciles: usar el vocabulario económico adecuadamente —tanto en los ensayos de Paper 1 como en las preguntas breves de Paper 3—\, incorporar diagramas\, realizar cálculos\, hacer referencia a ‘real word examples’ y desarrollar argumentos económicos con los que obtener la máxima puntuación. \nY si tienes dudas\, ¡tráetelas!
